The Central Theme and Topic of the Surah

Surah Al-Qiyamah confronts denial of resurrection and the desire to continue wrongdoing without accountability. It declares that Allah can restore not only human bones but even the finest details of the body. The difficulty lies less in the evidence than in the wish to avoid the consequences of one’s actions.

The surah describes the terror and confusion of the Last Day, when familiar points of security disappear and people ask where they can escape. There is no refuge away from the Lord. Every person will be informed about what was sent forward and left behind, and will recognise the truth about themselves despite offering excuses.

A passage concerning the reception of revelation reassures the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, that Allah will preserve its gathering, recitation, and explanation. He is directed to listen attentively rather than hasten anxiously. This affirms the divine care surrounding the Quran.

The final sections contrast faces bright with joy and faces darkened by expectation of disaster. The moment of death brings the issue close to everyday human life: the departing person can no longer remain in the world. Human creation from a small beginning then supplies a final argument for resurrection. The central message is that people have not been created to live without purpose or responsibility. Love of immediate pleasure should give way to faith, repentance, and preparation for the meeting with Allah.
