English Translation
Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all.
Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
He knows what is before them and what is behind them,
and they cannot encompass anything of His knowledge except what He wills.
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth,
and preserving them does not tire Him.
And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
🌟 Explanation, Virtues & Benefits of Ayat ul Kursi
Ayat ul Kursi is one of the most powerful and comprehensive verses in the Qur’an.
It centers entirely on who Allah is, His oneness, His authority, His knowledge, and His control over everything in existence. Every part of the ayah strengthens a believer’s connection with Allah and builds a deep sense of trust, protection, and reliance on Him.
When you read this ayah regularly, you’re not just reciting words. You’re reminding yourself that Allah is always in control, never sleeps, never tires, and nothing happens without His permission. That realization alone changes how a person deals with fear, stress, and uncertainty in life.
Below are some of the most important virtues and benefits of Ayat ul Kursi, proven from authentic hadith.
Benefit #1: Entry into Jannah After Every Farz Salah
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever recites Ayat ul Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing stands between them and entering Jannah except death (reported in Sunan an-Nasa’i).
This is one of the most powerful and direct promises found in hadith. It shows how such a small, consistent act can lead to the greatest reward. Many scholars emphasize that this is one of the easiest habits a Muslim can build with the highest return.
Benefit #2: Protection in the Morning and Evening
It is reported from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said whoever recites Ayat ul Kursi in the morning will be protected until evening, and whoever recites it in the evening will be protected until morning (Tirmidhi).
This makes it a core part of daily adhkar. It acts as a shield throughout the day and night, protecting a person from harm seen and unseen.
Benefit #3: Protection from Shaytan While Sleeping
In Sahih al-Bukhari, a famous narration mentions that when a person recites Ayat ul Kursi before sleeping, Allah appoints a guardian for them, and Shaytan cannot come near them until morning.
The Prophet ﷺ confirmed this statement, even though it was initially conveyed by Shaytan, saying: “He told you the truth, although he is a liar.”
Benefit #4: The Greatest Ayah in the Qur’an
The Prophet ﷺ asked Ubayy ibn Ka'b which ayah in the Qur’an is the greatest. When he answered with Ayat ul Kursi, the Prophet ﷺ approved and praised his knowledge.
This highlights that no other verse combines the attributes and greatness of Allah in the same complete way.
Benefit #5: A Complete Description of Allah’s Power and Knowledge
Ayat ul Kursi is unique because it describes Allah in a way that builds true understanding:
- Allah is Ever-Living and Sustains everything
- He never sleeps or gets tired
- Everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Him
- Nothing happens without His permission
- His knowledge covers all things
- His authority extends over the entire universe
Because of this, scholars explain that reciting this ayah strengthens faith (imaan) and deepens one’s belief in Tawheed.
Benefit #6: Protection from Harm and Evil
As mentioned in the material you shared and supported by various hadith, regularly reciting Ayat ul Kursi becomes a means of protection from different kinds of harm.
Whether it is physical danger, unseen harm, or spiritual weakness, this ayah acts as a shield for the believer, especially when read consistently after prayers, before sleep, and during morning and evening.
