The Central Theme and Topic of the Surah

Surah At-Takwir describes the end of the present world through a sequence of striking scenes. The sun loses its familiar light, the stars fall, mountains are moved, and treasured possessions are abandoned. The natural and social order on which people rely is overturned, preparing the way for the final disclosure of every soul’s deeds.

Among these scenes is the questioning of the girl buried alive, asking for what offence she was killed. This exposes the cruelty of a practice once defended by social custom and makes the innocence of its victim unmistakable. The record of human conduct is opened, and the realities of Paradise and Hell are brought near.

The surah then affirms the integrity of revelation. Jibril is described as a noble and trustworthy messenger, while the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is defended against the accusation of madness. The Quran is not a message brought by a rejected devil.

The closing verses ask where people are turning when such guidance stands before them. The Quran is a reminder for the worlds and a direction for those who wish to walk uprightly, while all willing remains subject to Allah. The central message is that revelation offers reliable guidance before the world’s final transformation. People should reject cruelty, take their deeds seriously, and respond to the Quran with sincerity while the opportunity for moral choice remains open.
