The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 30, known as Amma Yatasa’aloon, contains thirty-seven short surahs that repeatedly call people to recognise Allah, believe in resurrection, and prepare for judgment. Powerful descriptions of the earth, sky, mountains, stars, and human creation show that the Creator can bring the dead back to life.

Surahs such as An-Naba, An-Nazi’at, At-Takwir, Al-Infitar, and Al-Inshiqaq describe the upheaval of the Last Day and the presentation of deeds. Al-Zalzalah and Al-Qari’ah make personal accountability especially vivid: even the smallest actions have consequences.

The para warns against pride, dishonesty, cruelty, and attachment to wealth. Al-Mutaffifin condemns cheating in measurement, while Al-Humazah rebukes slander and contempt.

Al-Ma’un exposes outward worship that lacks sincerity and concern for vulnerable people. Accounts of Pharaoh, earlier nations, the persecuted believers of Al-Buruj, and the army of the elephant provide lessons from history.

Power cannot defeat Allah, and persecution does not cancel the reward of steadfast faith. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ receives reassurance in Ad-Duha and Ash-Sharh.

Their verses encourage gratitude, care for orphans and those who ask, continued effort, and hope through hardship. Abasa teaches the importance of responding to a sincere seeker of guidance.

Al-Alaq recalls revelation and the gift of knowledge, while Al-Qadr honours the night in which the Quran was sent down. Al-Bayyinah stresses sincere worship, prayer, and zakat.

Al-Asr gathers the path to salvation into faith, righteous deeds, and mutual encouragement towards truth and patience. Al-Kawthar calls for prayer and sacrifice, while An-Nasr directs gratitude towards glorification and seeking forgiveness after victory.

Al-Kafirun rejects compromise in worship, and Al-Ikhlas declares Allah’s absolute oneness and freedom from offspring or equals. The Quran closes with Al-Falaq and An-Nas, teaching believers to seek Allah’s protection from harmful forces, envy, and whispering.

The para links clear belief with sincere worship, moral responsibility, and constant dependence upon Allah’s guidance and protection.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 78:1; 83:1; 93:1; 103:1; 112:1; 113:1.
