Takbeer-e-Tashreeq Audio with Translation

Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is a special dhikr recited after every farz (obligatory) prayer during the days of Hajj. It is a powerful declaration of Allah’s greatness, unity, and praise. These words connect the believer to the spirit of sacrifice, obedience, and remembrance during the most blessed days of Dhul Hijjah.

Transliteration

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil hamd.

English Translation

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god except Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and all praise belongs to Allah.

Explanation of Takbeer-e-Tashreeq

Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is closely tied to the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, especially the days known as Ayyam-e-Tashreeq. These days begin from the 10th of Dhul Hijjah and continue until the 13th.

However, the recitation of these Takbeerat actually starts earlier—from the Fajr of the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (Day of Arafah) and continues until the Asr of the 13th.

This means that the believer is in a continuous state of remembrance of Allah throughout these days, especially after every obligatory prayer.

At its core, Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is a declaration of Allah’s greatness and oneness. The repetition of “Allahu Akbar” places Allah above everything—above wealth, desires, status, and even personal sacrifice. It reminds a believer of the spirit of Hajj, where everything is left behind for Allah.

The phrase also includes:

  • “La ilaha illa Allah” → A clear declaration of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah)
  • “Wa lillahil hamd” → Acknowledgment that all praise belongs only to Allah

So within a few words, the Takbeer combines:

  • Greatness of Allah
  • Oneness of Allah
  • Gratitude towards Allah

Another important aspect is the timing and consistency of this dhikr. It is recited after every farz prayer during these specific days. This structured repetition serves a deeper purpose. It keeps the believer constantly connected to Allah during a time when عبادات (acts of worship) are at their peak.

Through this practice:

  • The نماز does not end with salam—it continues with dhikr
  • Daily routine turns into عبادت
  • The heart stays engaged even outside Hajj

It is also important to understand why it is called “Takbeer-e-Tashreeq.” The name comes from the days in which it is recited. Although the recitation starts from the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, most of the days fall within the actual Ayyam-e-Tashreeq (10th–13th), so the name is given based on the majority of days.

Scholars also mention that the word Tashreeq is linked to practices of those days, such as drying meat of sacrificed animals or the timing related to sunrise, which further ties these days to acts of worship and sacrifice.

Another key ruling is that reciting Takbeer once after every farz prayer is wajib, and this single recitation is what is established from the Sunnah. While repeating it more than once as general dhikr is allowed, it should not be considered Sunnah to do so multiple times.

In simple terms, Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is a way of aligning your heart with the message of these sacred days:

  • Allah is the greatest above everything
  • Only He deserves worship
  • Every blessing comes from Him
  • Every act of عبادت is for Him

And by repeating this after every prayer, you keep renewing that belief again and again throughout the most important days of the year.
