Janaza Prayer (Dua) Audio for Male and Female with Translation
This is a comprehensive du‘ā taught by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for Ṣalāt al-Janāzah, reported in authentic collections such as Sunan Abi Dawood and Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi. It covers forgiveness for the entire Ummah and asks Allah for the most important blessing—to live upon Islam and die upon Iman.

Namaz e Janaza Dua English Translation
O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present among us and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females.
O Allah, whoever You keep alive among us, keep them alive upon Islam, and whoever You cause to die among us, let them die upon faith (Iman).
O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward, and do not lead us astray after him.
Explanation of the Janazah Prayer (Dua)
This du‘ā is not just for the deceased. It is a powerful, collective prayer for the entire Ummah present and absent.
It includes everyone without exception
The du‘ā begins by covering every category of people:
- Living and dead
- Present and absent
- Young and old
- Male and female
This teaches that Janazah is not just about one person. It reminds you that everyone is on the same journey toward Allah.
A du‘ā for how we live and how we die
You ask Allah for two of the most critical things in this dua:
- To live upon Islam
- To die upon Iman
This is deep. Because a person might:
- Live as a Muslim but lose faith at the end
- Or struggle in life but die with complete faith
So this du‘ā focuses on what truly matters: A good ending (ḥusn al-khātimah)
A reminder of reality
Standing in Janazah, this du‘ā quietly tells you:
- One day, others will pray over you
- You will also become “mayyit” (the deceased)
- What matters is not status, but your state with Allah
Asking for reward without losing guidance
The last part is very powerful:
- “Do not deprive us of his reward” → You ask Allah to give you the reward of attending, praying, and being patient
- “Do not lead us astray after him” → A reminder that grief, loss, or life changes should not take you away from Allah
Many people become distant after loss. This du‘ā protects you from that.
