Allahummaghfirlahu Warhamhu - Janaza Dua for Women with Translation

Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهَا وَارْحَمْهَا، وَعَافِهَا وَاعْفُ عَنْهَا، وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهَا، وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهَا، وَاغْسِلْهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ، وَنَقِّهَا مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ، وَأَبْدِلْهَا دَارًا خَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهَا، وَأَهْلًا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، وَأَدْخِلْهَا الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَعِذْهَا مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Allahummaghfir lahā warhamhā, wa ‘āfihā wa‘fu ‘anhā, wa akrim nuzulahā, wa wassi‘ mudkhalahā, waghsilhā bil-mā’i wath-thalji wal-barad, wa naqqihā minal-khatāyā kamā naqqaytath-thawbal-abyaḍa minad-danas, wa abdilhā dāran khayran min dārihā, wa ahlan khayran min ahlihā, wa adkhilhā al-jannah, wa a‘idhhā min ‘adhābil-qabr wa min ‘adhābin-nār.

Urdu Translation

اے اللّٰہ! اس خاتون کی مغفرت فرما، اس پر رحم فرما، اسے عافیت عطا فرما، اور اس سے درگزر فرما۔

اس کی مہمانی کو عزت والی بنا، اس کی قبر کو کشادہ فرما۔

اسے پانی، برف اور اولوں سے دھو دے، اور اسے گناہوں سے اس طرح پاک فرما جیسے تو سفید کپڑے کو میل کچیل سے پاک فرما دیتا ہے۔

اور اسے اس کے گھر سے بہتر گھر عطا فرما، اس کے اہل سے بہتر اہل عطا فرما

اور اسے جنت میں داخل فرما، اور اسے قبر کے عذاب اور جہنم کے عذاب سے بچا لے۔

English Translation

O Allah, forgive her, have mercy on her, grant her peace and pardon her.

Honor her place of rest and make her entrance spacious.

Wash her with water, snow, and ice, and cleanse her of sins just as a white garment is cleansed of dirt.

Replace her home with a better home, her family with a better family.

Admit her into Paradise and protect her from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.

Explanation

This is the feminine version of the beautiful Janazah dua taught by Rasulullah ﷺ for a deceased Muslim woman. It is recited during Janazah prayer or whenever making dua for a believing woman who has passed away.

Every sentence of this dua is filled with mercy, compassion, and hope in the forgiveness of Allah.

The dua begins by asking Allah to forgive her sins, shower her with mercy, grant her peace, and overlook her shortcomings. After death, the greatest need of every believer is the mercy and forgiveness of Allah, because only His mercy can bring true success in the Hereafter.

The dua then asks Allah to honor her stay in the grave and make it spacious and comfortable. It asks Allah to purify her from sins completely, using the beautiful example of cleansing a white garment from dirt. The mention of water, snow, and ice symbolizes complete purity, coolness, peace, and cleansing from every stain of sin.

The dua also asks Allah to replace what she left behind with something far better in the eternal life of the Hereafter. A better home refers to the homes of Jannah. Better companionship refers to the righteous company and eternal peace that Allah grants to the people of Paradise.

Finally, the dua asks Allah to protect her from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of Hellfire, and to admit her into Jannah.

This dua reminds believers that sincere dua for the deceased is one of the greatest gifts we can offer them after their passing.
