The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 15, known as Subhanallazi, begins with the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ night journey from the Sacred Mosque to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa. Surah Al-Isra then recalls lessons from Bani Israel and declares that the Quran guides towards the most upright way.

A central section sets out duties that shape personal and social life. Believers must worship Allah alone, honour their parents, help relatives and the needy, and avoid wastefulness.

The verses also prohibit killing children from fear of poverty, approaching unlawful sexual relations, and taking life unjustly. Other commands protect orphans’ property, require fulfilment of promises, and demand honest measurement.

People are warned against following claims without knowledge and walking arrogantly upon the earth. Hearing, sight, and the heart are all subject to accountability.

The surah answers objections about resurrection and revelation. It describes the Quran as healing and mercy for believers, while warning that stubborn rejection increases loss.

Prayer, night worship, gratitude, and reliance upon Allah support the believer’s response to these challenges. Surah Al-Kahf opens by praising Allah for revealing a clear Book.

The account of the young believers who seek refuge in a cave demonstrates steadfast faith under pressure and Allah’s ability to protect and revive His servants. The story of the owner of two gardens warns against pride in wealth and confidence that worldly prosperity will last.

His believing companion reminds him to acknowledge Allah’s power. The destruction of the gardens exposes the weakness of possessions without gratitude.

The para also describes the fleeting nature of worldly life and the certainty that deeds will be presented for judgment. Iblis’s hostility is recalled as a warning against choosing him as a protector.

The final section begins Musa’s journey with a servant granted special knowledge by Allah. Their first encounters introduce questions about patience, human understanding, and the wisdom behind events.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 17:1; 17:23; 18:9; 18:60.
