The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 3, known as Tilkar Rusul, brings together teachings about Allah’s greatness, sincere spending, honest financial dealings, and belief in His messengers. It opens by explaining that Allah granted different distinctions to different prophets, while all conveyed guidance from Him.

Ayat al-Kursi describes Allah’s perfect life, knowledge, power, and authority over the heavens and earth. The surrounding passages distinguish guidance from error and present accounts demonstrating resurrection.

These include Ibrahim’s discussion with a ruler and his request to witness how Allah gives life to the dead. A major section explains the manners of charity.

Believers are encouraged to spend sincerely from good possessions without humiliating recipients or seeking public praise. Giving privately, supporting those in need, and recognising the dignity of people who do not openly ask for help receive attention.

The para firmly prohibits riba and distinguishes it from lawful trade. It directs creditors to give relief to debtors facing genuine hardship and encourages remission as charity.

Instructions for recording debts and using witnesses protect rights and reduce disputes. Surah Al-Baqarah closes with declarations of faith and prayers for pardon, mercy, and help.

Surah Aal-e-Imran begins by affirming Allah’s oneness and the truth of His revelations. It warns against twisting unclear passages to create confusion and reminds people that wealth and children cannot protect them from Allah’s judgment.

The accounts of Maryam, Zakariyya, Yahya, and Isa (peace be upon them) highlight Allah’s power and the honour of His chosen servants. Isa’s miraculous birth and signs are presented without attributing divinity to him.

The closing passages invite the People of the Book to worship Allah alone and reject false claims about Ibrahim’s religion. They also condemn concealing revelation and breaking religious trusts.

The para links correct belief with humility, truthfulness, generosity, and accountability, calling people to accept Allah’s guidance with sincerity.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 2:255; 2:261; 2:275; 3:33; 3:64.
