  2. Surah No. 7 – Al-A’raf: Verses 1–87.

The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 8, known as Wa Lau Annana, continues the call to worship Allah alone and follow revealed guidance. It explains that spectacular signs do not benefit those determined to reject the truth.

False arguments and attractive speech can mislead people when they replace sincere submission. The closing portion of Surah Al-An’am challenges invented religious restrictions concerning crops, animals, and food.

People are warned against attributing their own customs to Allah. The authority to declare religious obligations and prohibitions belongs to Him.

A central passage sets out major moral duties: avoiding shirk, treating parents well, protecting children, staying away from indecency, and respecting human life. It also commands care for orphans’ property, fairness in weights and measures, justice in speech, and fulfilment of Allah’s covenant.

The surah ends by directing the believer to dedicate prayer, sacrifice, life, and death to Allah. Each person bears responsibility for personal deeds, and differences in worldly circumstances are described as a test.

Surah Al-A’raf begins by warning against rejecting revelation and following other protectors instead of Allah. The account of Adam and Iblis exposes the danger of arrogance.

Adam and his wife’s repentance contrasts with Iblis’s persistence in disobedience. The para discusses clothing, modesty, and the importance of taqwa.

It rejects the claim that shameful practices are commanded by Allah and instructs people to avoid extravagance when eating and drinking. Scenes of the Hereafter describe the people of Paradise, the people of Hell, and those upon the heights.

Their conversations reveal the lasting consequences of belief and rejection, while showing the helplessness of false objects of worship. Accounts of Nuh, Hud, Salih, Lut, and Shu’ayb follow.

Their communities are warned against idolatry, corruption, sexual wrongdoing, and dishonest trade. Across these accounts, the para repeatedly calls people to accept sincere advice, reform their conduct, and recognise Allah’s authority.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 6:151; 6:162; 7:11; 7:59.
