The Main Themes and Topics Covered in This Juzz/Para of the Holy Quran

Para 22, known as Wa Man Yaqnut, continues guidance for the household of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His wives are reminded of their responsibilities in speech, conduct, worship, and teaching revelation.

Believing men and women are promised forgiveness and reward for the same qualities of faith and obedience. Surah Al-Ahzab addresses the correction of customs surrounding adoption through events in the Prophet’s life.

It affirms his position as Allah’s Messenger and the Seal of the Prophets. Believers are instructed to remember Allah often and send blessings and salutations upon the Prophet.

The para also teaches respect for the Prophet’s household, modesty, and restraint from causing harm through speech or conduct. Truthful, upright speech is commanded.

The surah closes by describing the weight of the trust undertaken by humanity. Surah Saba contrasts gratitude with ingratitude.

Dawud and Sulayman receive exceptional abilities and are directed to act thankfully. The people of Saba enjoy prosperity but turn away, and their circumstances change through the destruction of their gardens.

The surah rejects the belief that wealth and children necessarily indicate nearness to Allah. It describes the failure of false objects of worship and the arguments between misleaders and their followers on the Day of Judgment.

Surah Fatir presents Allah as the Creator and the source of every mercy. Humanity depends upon Him, while He needs nothing from creation.

Satan is identified as an enemy whose promises must not be trusted. Differences in people’s responses to revelation are compared through images of sight and blindness, light and darkness, and life and death.

Those who recite Allah’s Book, pray, and spend sincerely are promised lasting reward. The opening of Surah Ya-Sin affirms the Prophet’s mission and the Quran’s wisdom.

The account of messengers sent to a town begins, and a believing man urges his people to follow them.

Selected tafsir references (Ma’ariful Qur’an): 33:35; 33:40; 34:15; 35:1; 36:13.
